Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport Wins Distinguished Business of the Year Award

We are so excited to to announce that the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (ITH) is the winner of the Chamber Awards! ITH won the Distinguished Business of the Year, one category out of four that recognize our community’s business efforts and success. The award was presented in the Chamber’s Annual Dinner, held last Thursday, January 25th at Ithaca College Emerson Suites.

The TOGOs are coming!

The annual Cornell Town-Gown Awards (The TOGOs) are set for Saturday, Dec. 2, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Kulp Auditorium, Ithaca High School.

The TOGOs are free, open to all, celebratory and fun.

The 2017 TOGOs will be a “special edition,” with comments from Tompkins County’s three higher-education presidents, Martha Pollack (CU), Orinthia Montague (TC3) and Shirley Collado (IC).

TOGOs will be awarded to three town-gown partnerships, all of which have an Ithaca College, Tompkins Cortland Community College and Cornell University component.

In addition, community members retiring from high-profile elected or appointed positions will be recognized and thanked for their service.

The 4th Annual Town-Gown Resource Fair is THIS FRIDAY, October 27th!

Area residents, school district employees, government staff, and those who work for and with area not-for-profits are invited to stop by the 4th annual Town-Gown Resource Fair on Friday, October 27, 8:30 – 11 a.m., at the TST BOCES Campus, 555 Warren Road, Ithaca.

This Resource Fair reflects off-campus requests for access to many higher education resources in one setting, and will be held in cooperation with Cornell, Ithaca College and Tompkins Cortland Community College. 

Several top outreach programs, academic departments and administrative units from the three higher education institutions will be there with information on sustainability, infrastructure, student and faculty engagement, data gathering, diversity, equity, inclusion and many other fields. 

This is a free, informal, come-and-go event open to everyone.

CORNELL COMMUNITY OFFICE HOURS, KENDAL AT ITHACA, SEPTEMBER 18TH

Kendal at Ithaca hosts Cornell University outreach reps at Community Relations' Office Hours, September 18th, 1-2 p.m. 

Cornell's Office of Community Relations serves as a liaison between Cornell and the community and connects with area residents on "town-gown" questions and opportunities.  

OCR's September office hours will be at Kendal at Ithaca from 1-2 p.m. on the 18th.  Associate Vice President of Community Relations Gary Stewart, will give an overview of Cornell-Ithaca town-gown relations and recent initiatives, and then facilitate a Q & A discussion with attendees.  

Information on various campus outreach programs will be available (Engaged Cornell, Public Service Center, Cooperative Extensions, Bronfenbrener Center for Translational Research.)  Topics determined by attendees, but past sessions have included discussions of employment, youth programming, campus planning initiatives, infrastructure partnerships, service-learning and community partnerships and Cornell events.

Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00pm to 5:00pm 

Downtown Ithaca

CU Downtown welcomes students and encourages them to explore Ithaca, while giving local residents a chance to enjoy Cornell students in this unique town-gown back-to-school celebration. This signature event provides arare opportunity to see a hugely diverse range of performers for free and all at one venue. 

Cornell performers include: Cornell Bhangra, the Absolute Zero Breakdance Club, Yamatai, the Big Red Pep and Marching Bands, and many other a cappella, instrumental, and dance groups, including an astounding juggler.

BEAR Walk 2017

The 4th Annual BEAR Walk through the Collegetown and Belle Sherman Neighborhoods will be Thursday, August 17th – 5:30-7:30 p.m.

This event brings together students, neighbors, city officials, Cornell staff, and local businesses who share the common goal of promoting a greater sense of community and connection throughout the vibrant Collegetown/Belle Sherman neighborhood. 

Students, staff and neighbors will share a community dinner and celebration and then teams will walkthrough the neighborhood distributing door tags with important safety information, tips on successful tenant, landlord and neighborhood relationships, and Party Safe/Party Smart information.
